Daughter Of Darkness

Tisiphone is one of the three Furies from Greek legend who were said to be the daughters of Darkness and of Gaea, the Earth as a goddess. The Furies lived in the underworld and ascended to earth to pursue the wicked.
There are two versions of their birth, the second being that as Uranus, the tyrannical God of the Heavens lay mortally wounded by his son Cronus, the three Erinyes (Furies) emerged from the earth soaked with his blood. They were Magaera, the jealous one, Alecto, unceasing in anger and Tisiphone, the avenger of murder.

This artwork is a modern interpretation of a Greek legend and the setting is All Hallow's Eve.

Edit: 16/11/10 - Fixed hair above fringe, right lower side of cross, shadow beneath skeletons leg.

Edit: 12/06/11 - Changed the colour of the sky, also the light in the sky and from buildings, brightened moon and the area on the statue behind Tisiphone as there are 3 light sources. Repainted and reshaped face, eyes, nose and mouth, repainted hair, added hilights, changed colour of jacket, and boots. Lightened the fur on the cat in the foreground.
