Harbinger is my entry in the 'Fears and Fobias' contest at where the details can be found. My entry is for the fear category, the fear being death.

A harbinger is a sign, omen or vision, an indication of the approach of something or someone. Harbingers can be found in both history and literature and have influenced major decisions, which have changed the world [link]

My harbinger is a warning of death. The circle behind the angel represents the circle of life, the hour glass time spent and time remaining. The scythe and the blood on it warns of death, the bright light, the journey to come and the ragged clothing indicates a state of health. The black and darkened border surrounding the harbinger represents mourning. The eyes of the messenger and the stance of the recipient indicate that the message may be neither cruel nor unwelcome although the eventual outcome depends on the actions taken after receiving the warning.
